No sympathy for Derek, but it’s unfortunate to see this be the fate of the agency his father founded in 1976. Hopefully there’s no credit harm to the clients whose identities were used, and if so, it’s being repaired.

Where do you think Derek learned it from!! The clients had no idea this was going on but both Derek and Hamiton did!

The agency had a bad reputation for years, but I have to admit that after meeting with them felt that they were good men and I ended up giving the agency appointments from 2 different carriers I worked for.
We made money with them, but I wondered how they were able to pay for some nice perks like Mercedes for not only Derek and Hamilton but also Hamiltons ex wife, expensive lunches and tickets to every sporting event not to mention the never ending series of very attractive “assistants” Hamilton personally employed.
All that said, Derak had a nice family-great wife and beautiful kids-I defintely feel sorry for them.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Did you ever stop to think that this article exaggerated and lied about a lot of stuff? Derek is a good man. He was good to his clients and BOTH, Derek and Hamilton took VERY good care of their employees. They were good to anyone that crossed their path. Very generous human beings with AMAZING hearts.

I have known the family for over 25 years. Being good to their friends, clients, or employees is no guarantee that they exemplify integrity, honesty, moral values, or ethics that are required in their capacity as Insurance Brokers.

    So Sad.

To AB: Did you not read the article? It states he plead guilty, which means to me he did all of the things stated in the article. He can be a GOOD man, but still be dishonest and a thief. None of us are without our faults and sins….just sayin – open your eyes!
