2 Men File Sex Abuse Lawsuits against Boy Scouts In Oregon

November 17, 2016

Two Oregon men have filed sexual abuse lawsuits against the Boy Scouts of America.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reported that the lawsuits were filed on Tuesday.

They allege the plaintiffs were sexually abused by former scout leaders who were allowed to lead troops despite past abuses.

One lawsuit seeks $5 million for alleged abuse in the mid-1970s and another asks for $9 million.

boyscoutsThe Boy Scouts call the allegations abhorrent and say they go against everything for which the organization stands. One lawsuit alleges the Scouts gave Scout leader Calvin Malone additional chances to work for the organization despite warnings in his file.

Malone is currently at a special Seattle-area detention prison for sex offenders. He was convicted in 1993 of child rape and child molestation.
