Law enforcement officials plan to gather at Arizona’s Capitol to publicize the launch of their annual DUI enforcement and sober designated driver campaigns.
State, local and federal officials are set to speak at Tuesday’s news conference. They’ll highlight the dangers of impaired driving and describe heightened enforcement effort by task forces across the state between now and the New Year’s holiday.
Speakers will include Alberto Gutier of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the head of the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery. Several city police chiefs and county sheriffs also plan to attend.
The DUI task forces deployed across Arizona arrest hundreds of impaired drivers each holiday season. More than 25,000 DUI arrests were made in Arizona last year.
