Washington Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud

April 5, 2019

Elizabeth Delgado, of Pasco, Wash., was charged in Franklin County District Court with one count each of filing a false insurance claim and second-degree attempted theft after an investigation by Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler’s criminal investigations unit.

According to the investigation, Delgado purchased an auto insurance policy for her 2011 Jeep Sahara from Multi-State Insurance Services in September 2018. Four days later, she filed a claim for damages to her boyfriend’s 2012 Ford Fusion totaling $4,631.

She reportedly told the insurer that she backed into her boyfriend’s car while it was in her driveway and the spare tire on her Jeep damaged his car. The photos Delgado submitted to prove the damage to Fusion were taken the day before she purchased her policy. The insurer denied the claim and referred the case to Kreidler’s office.
