The Hartford has opened a Y‑Risk office in San Francisco, a specialty underwriting business focused on insuring the shared economy and emerging technologies.
The company says the San Franciso Y-Risk location will strengthen its ability to serve customers “operating at the edge of technological change” thanks to its proximity to Silicon Valley, California.
The Y-Risk San Francisco team will include professionals with expertise in underwriting, risk engineering and a passion for emerging technologies.
The company uses telematics, IoT and predictive analytics to inform underwriting and risk engineering by analyzing real-time data—mileage, trip counts, device telemetry.
Y-Risk is a brand company of The Hartford and is an insurance intermediary, accepting business from select wholesale surplus lines brokers and retail agents.
