Insurance First Agency Unveils New Employee Benefits Services Group; Bingham to Head Unit

February 15, 2005

Ohio-based Insurance First Agency, a full-service independent insurance agency and member of the Title First Family of Companies, announced the launch of its Employee Benefits Services group.

The company’s newest group enables Insurance First to add employee benefits such as health insurance, trust administration, health savings accounts and disability insurance to its existing menu of property and casualty insurance services.

The independent insurance agency previously served clients by providing personal insurance services such as homeowner’s and auto, and commercial insurance services such as property and liability, commercial umbrellas and builder’s risk. The agency was opened last year as a sister company to Title First Agency Inc., a title insurance agency and real estate information company with offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia.

“We saw the initial launch of Insurance First as a natural extension to our relationship with our core customers — lenders, realtors, and builders — and their customers — the home and business owners going through the process of building or buying real estate,” said James Hewit, president of Title First. “Offering health insurance to those core customers is a fitting continuation of our insurance services.”

The Employee Services Group will be headed up by Insurance First Vice President, Jeffrey Bingham, a former Marsh Inc. executive.

Prior to joining Insurance First last year, Bingham served as the practice leader for the Marsh Advantage America (MAA) division of Marsh Inc.

Melissa Weaver, who previously served in sales and account manager roles for Group Benefits Agency Inc. (GBA), has been hired onto the Insurance First team to help build the Employee Benefits Services Group.

While with GBA, Weaver assisted in designing and implementing systems and studied best practices for their growing employee benefits practice. She also managed more than 70 employer groups statewide, with a 95% retention rate for existing and new clientele.
