Safeco Insurance is working with its 536 independent Texas agents to provide quality replacement homeowners coverage for customers stranded by the failed Texas Select Lloyds company.

“With the clock ticking for consumers, Safeco is moving quickly to help protect families’ biggest financial asset — their home,” says Jim Swegle, vice president of the company’s personal property division. “We just rolled out a new homeowners insurance policy in Texas that provides quality coverage and lowered rates — more than 20 percent in many areas. Safeco is a long-term solution to a short-term problem and we stand ready to serve Texas home owners,” he said.

With an “A” rating from A.M. Best and nearly 50,000 Texas personal property customers, Safeco recently redesigned its state product, adding coverage enhancements and discounts. The company also rolled out a renovated personal auto product for the state. Fifty-seven percent of the nearly 200,000 Safeco auto policyholders in Texas stand to see a rate decrease.
