Uh oh, going to visit Sheriff Joe Arpaio. That is a stupid mistake.

First, props to Seer- boy is he right about Arpaio’s thugs. She can look forward to joining their female chain gang (seriously!)

This is why I won’t write a grocery store type risk without full camera coverage. If this hadn’t been caught on film, depending on state legal precedents (not sure about Arizona speifically) the merchant could have been put into an adverse situation. Or, despite their wishes their carrier might have thought about a small settlement in lieu of an extended court battle, particularly where a jury is likely to make decisions adverse to an insurer.

There is no substitute for cameras and a well-managed business with strong spill response & accident handling & investigation. Cameras leave no room for debate and make these sorts of claims go away rather quickly.

I did a big split when I almost tripped on some liquid on the floor of a local food store, Thanksgiving Day. An employer stood nearby, waiting for another employee to arrive to clean up the spill cautioning: “Yo! Be careful.”

Slip and falls are the easiest type of claim to defend. If a store can demonstrate constructive notice they’re pretty much off the hook. Besides the fact that an individual has a duty to watch where they’re walking.

Did you hear about the case where one of the sheriffs deputies in the courthouse took priveledged documents from defense counsels table while her back was turned, gave it to another deputy who took it outside presumably to copy it then brought it back? Video can be seen online.

It left open a scenario where Arpaio would refuse to book one of his own despite a judicial order to do so. Crazy stuff. It sounds like a real circus! Getcha popcorn ready.

Do any phoenix locals know how this turned out? Seemed such a strange scenario all the way around! One would not expect Arpaio to roll over, not in the least. He speaks his mind, seems to strike a chord with the locals. And grate on others! Interesting stuff.

    …off to slip on a polish sausage…

Note to Matt- We love Sheriff Joe because he is willing to enforce the laws both local and federal and protects our families and property. He has made jail time unpleasant so that criminals of all types don’t want to be locked up again.
