Louisiana officials anticipate changes in workers’ comp as Hurricane recovery continues.
Steven Cavanaugh, CEO of the Louisiana Workers’ Comp-ensation Corp., said the region still faces enormous challenges, including a loss of many jobs, an increase in demand for certain employments (such as cleanup crews), and a lack of suitable permanent housing for necessary employees, such as restaurant and hotel staff.
Officials have addressed concerns about coverage through emergency orders, including a ban on policy cancellations; requirements to renew policies for a limited period of time; and dispute resolution suspensions.
