Pat Arthur, a partner in the Dallas insurance and risk management firm McQueary, Henry, Bowles, Troy, has been appointed president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas. He will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the IIAD, in coordination with the organization’s executive committee. He will also be accountable for reporting on these activities to the IIAD’s board of directors. Arthur has 25 years of experience in the insurance and risk management profession.

Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco appointed James N. Hall of Baton Rouge to the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corp. Hall has served as president of Petrin Corporation, an industrial insulation contractor in Port Allen, La., since 1996. He will serve as a member representative of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry on LWCC’s Board.

Irving, Texas-based Homeowners of America Insurance Co. announced that Joe Graziano has joined the company as a marketing representative for the North Texas region.

Graziano has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He spent the last 11 years managing sales for Hartford and Omni Insurance Companies in Texas.

Swett & Crawford appointed Kyle Chapman as vice president and director of business development. He will be working with Swett & Crawford’s senior management team in Atlanta on its acquisition initiatives. Chapman will also assist Terri Snell, Swett & Crawford’s chief administrative officer in identifying operational efficiencies throughout the company’s network of 37 offices.

Prior to joining Swett & Crawford, Chapman worked as a senior associate at Banc of America Capital Investors, a private firm.

Swiss Re appointed Roger W. Ferguson, Jr. head of Financial Services and a member of Swiss Re’s executive committee. Ferguson joined Swiss Re from the U.S. Federal Reserve Board as chairman of Swiss Re America Holding in June 2006, and will continue in that role. He will have overall responsibility for Swiss Re’s proprietary asset management. He also assumes overall responsibility for the capital management and advisory unit, which serves as the company’s capital market platform, specializing in the growing insurance bond market and derivative activities.

USG Insurance Services Inc., a national broker of commercial insurance headquartered in Tampa, Fla., promoted Jodi Berger to assistant manager for its Arlington, Texas, branch.

In addition, Heath McCasland was recently promoted to associate underwriter.

Berger was a senior underwriter at USG for the past four years. Prior to her career at USG, Berger was the director of underwriting for Gainsco, an excess and surplus lines property and casualty company, for over 21 years. McCasland has been with USG for over a year and will specialize in quoting new and renewal business for a select group of agents.

The Texas branch has 17 employees.

Insurance claims service firm Cunningham Lindsey U.S., based in Dallas, added Jon McCreath to its U.S. claims property support staff. McCreath brings 17 years of industry related experience including positions as a multi-line adjuster, supervisor, unit manager, senior operations analyst and director of quality.

The Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters elected these new officers and governors during its recent annual meeting in Nashville:

President: Betsey L. Brewer, senior vice president of The Rule Company in Pasadena, Calif. Brewer is a member and past president of the Los Angeles Chapter. Nationally, she has served as a CPCU Society governor from 1998 to 2002, and as a third-year governor on the executive committee.

President-Elect: James L. Britt, a managing director of Marsh USA Inc. in Charlotte, N.C. An active member and past president of the Charlotte chapter, Britt chaired the 2004 annual meeting task force. He also served as a 1995-1996 regional vice president.

Vice President: Marvin Kelly, executive director of Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association in Austin. Kelly will serve a one-year term as vice president, and then automatically move into the positions of president-elect, president, and immediate past president. He will serve as the 2008-2009 president.

Secretary/Treasurer: Larry L. Klein, a vice president of pricing for the Alternative Solutions-Group Captives Business Unit of Zurich North America in Schaumburg, Ill. Klein is serving a second three-year term.

Continuing her service on the board is Millicent W. Workman, the immediate past president. Workman is a research analyst with International Risk Management Institute Inc. based in Dallas. She is a past president and treasurer of the Memphis chapter.

Newly elected governors, who will serve a three-year term, are: Benjamin M. Anderson, secretary/treasurer for Claims and Risk Services in Oklahoma City; Anthony W. Bucci Jr., president of Bucci Insurance Group in West Warwick, R.I.; James R. Jones, director of the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.; Kenneth K. Kanehiro, a consultant based in Honolulu; Manus C. O’Donnell, administrative vice president and director of Corporate Insurance and Risk for M&T Bank in Buffalo, N.Y.; Patrick W. Reilly, assistant vice president-casualty broker for International Placement Services Inc. in St. Louis, Mo.; Sharon M. Romano, vice president and co-founder of Demotech Inc., in Columbus, Ohio; Eli E. Shupe Jr., underwriting director in the Commercial Lines Department of The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Fairfield, Ohio; Rodney K. Stoffels, commercial lines associate manager for Harleysville Insurance in Edina, Minn.; Jane M. Wahl, a process manager for State Farm Insurance Companies in Jacksonville, Fla.; and Daniel L. Walker, chief claims officer for Canal Insurance Company in Greenville, S.C.; Anthony L. Cabot, country manager for XL Insurance in Milan, Italy; William C. Wilson Jr., director of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s Virtual University; and Larry D. Oney, president and chief executive officer of Hammerman & Gainer International in New Orleans, La.
