Oregon amends rule on licensing; passes farmworkers bill

Oregon’s Insurance Division has amended its rules affecting licensing, renewal, prelicensing training and continuing education requirements for insurance producers. According to the OID, the changes in the rulemaking furthers licensing reciprocity for Oregon resident insurance producers and increases consistency between the licensing laws of Oregon and those of other states. In a separate action, the Oregon Senate has approved a bill to provide protection for farmworkers. Senate Bill 202 requires farm labor contractors to provide workers’ compensation insurance for workers, and requires applicants for farm labor contractor licenses to provide proof of existence of workers’ compensation insurance.

The bill was scheduled to the House of Representatives at press time.
