The South Carolina Safe Home Hurricane Damage Mitigation Program has a new Web site. The site, www.scsafehome.sc.gov, offers information about the damage mitigation grant program as well as information about the various retrofit measures homeowners can take to make their homes stronger against the damaging winds.
New features include information such as the mitigation tip of the day, links to do-it-yourself retrofits, sponsorship information and information about coastal property insurance.
Scott Richardson, director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance, said the program has awarded more than 60 grants worth approximately $3 million to homeowners in areas vulnerable to high winds.
