South Carolina Department of Insurance Director Ray Farmer was elected to the position of president-elect at the NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) Fall National Meeting on Nov. 18.
Previously, Farmer served as secretary-treasurer and vice president at the NAIC.
Farmer was first appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to serve as director for the South Carolina Department of Insurance in 2012.
He has more than 40 years’ experience, having served as a deputy insurance commissioner for the Georgia Department of Insurance and more recently as vice president for the American Insurance Association.
Members of the NAIC elected additional 2019 officers during its Fall National Meeting. Maine Insurance Superintendent Eric A. Cioppa was elected president, Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Gordon I. Ito was elected vice president and Idaho Insurance Director Dean L. Cameron was elected secretary-treasurer.
The newly elected officers will assume their duties on Jan. 1, 2019.
