Maine-based workers’ comp insurer The MEMIC Group has promoted Michael P. Bourque to senior vice president for external affairs. Bourque joined MEMIC in 1995 and was appointed vice president for corporate marketing and communications in 2004. His new title reflects his continuing responsibilities in communications, corporate marketing and community relations with the addition of responsibilities in government relations that he took on last year, the company said. Borque is a former journalist who was senior editor at the American Association of Community Colleges in Washington, D.C. before joining the insurance industry.
Anne Head will remain as commissioner of Maine’s Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. She was appointed by former Gov. John Baldacci in August 2008, and will stay on with the administration of Gov. Paul LePage. The department regulates the banking and insurance industries, securities and consumer credit, and issues professional and occupational licenses. She previously served as general counsel of the Maine Health Care Finance Commission and legal counsel to the Federal Election Commission in Washington.
The New Jersey Captive Insurance Association (NJCIA) has appointed a seven-member advisory board, which will assist the group in guiding the state’s new captive insurance industry. The board members are Andrew Barile, president of Andrew Barile Consulting Corp. Inc., a 35-years veteran of the insurance and reinsurance industries; Harry M. Baumgartner, a lawyer with Bressler, Amery & Ross; Leonard P. Crouse, of The Towner Management Group and former deputy commissioner and director of captive insurance for the state of Vermont; Christina Mancini, CEO of Captive.com; Herbert R. Selander Jr., managing director of Marsh USA Inc.; Nicholas H. Teetelli, CEO of Maple Technologies; and Richard W. Wright, senior vice president of Willis Captive Consulting Practice
Global Aerospace Inc. named Christopher Proudlove vice president, manager complex risks. Proudlove, based in New Jersey, joined Global Aerospace in 2005 and has underwritten Global’s general aviation portfolio outside of North America from Global’s Group Headquarters in London. He assumed responsibility for the rest of world account in 2008. He has brings over 20 years of experience in the London market to his new role. Before joining Global Aerospace, Chris led the general aviation team of Lloyds’ syndicate Canopius.
James Berliner has been elected president of the Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut. He is president of Berliner-Gelfand & Co. Inc., in Bridgeport.
Other newly elected officers are Vice President Brian Schmitt Sr., who serves as president of Curtiss, Crandon & Moffette Inc. in Trumbull; Vice President Augusto Russell, a partner at May, Bonee & Walsh Inc. in East Berlin; Treasurer Peter Frascarelli, chief operating officer for the Peter M. Bakker Agency Inc., in Avon; and Secretary Teri Walsh, vice president of Sachs Walsh Insurance in Westport. Howard Olderman, president of The Olderman and Hallihan Agency Inc. in Ansonia, will serve as immediate past president.
Starr Marine Agency Inc. has named Christine Santiago as commercial inland marine product line manager. Santiago has over 25 years of experience in the P&C insurance business, the last 20 years dedicated to the inland marine classes. She joins Starr from Axis Insurance Co. where she was senior vice president managing both retail and wholesale distribution of inland marine products throughout the U.S. for that organization.
Maryland-based broker All Risks has named Cindy Coleman business development manager for its nationwide REO/ force placed property insurance program. She has over 25 years of insurance industry experience and spent the majority of the last 15 years as an executive with Zenith Insurance Co. focusing on business development and agency management. She has also held positions with Fireman’s Fund and is also a former insurance agency owner.
Insurer Main Street America has promoted three Keene, N.H.-based executives. Tom Frazier has been named vice president and chief investment officer, Dick Schultz as vice president and chief accounting officer and Ron Profaizer as director of integrated customer solutions operations.
Frazier joined Main Street America in 1999 and most recently served as assistant vice president. He manages the company’s $1.7 billion investment portfolio. Schultz joined Main Street America in 1986 and since 2007 has served as assistant vice president. He is responsible for financial reporting for the company as a whole, as well as its operating companies and profit centers. Profaizer joined Main Street America in 2008 as director of integrated customer solutions operations.
Main Street America also promoted Alice Moriarty as head of the company’s national claims reporting center in Auburn, Mass. She manages field claim property/casualty operations and supports marketing operations by delivery of claims service to Main Street America’s independent insurance agents. She joined Main Street America in March 2006 as manager of regional casualty claims.
