A former American International Group (AIG) executive is joining QBE Group to become CEO of its North American operations.

Russell Johnston will succeed David Duclos in the role of QBE CEO for its North American operation starting on May 31, and be based in New York City.

Johnston, who has 25 years of industry experience, was most recently president of AIG’s $6 billion Casualty Americas operation from 2011 through 2015, with responsibility for all U.S., Canada, Bermuda and London-based U.S. casualty underwriters.

Duclos, who is retiring from full-time employment, plans to stay on as a non-executive director of QBE emerging markets and Equator Re.

Beecher Carlson Insurance Services, a specialized large account brokerage and a subsidiary of Brown & Brown Inc., has hired Megan Miller as managing director.

She will work out of the New York City office and report to Beecher Carlson’s executive managing director, John Kerns.

Miller will be responsible for developing and managing large risk management accounts, with a focus on the financial services and manufacturing industries.

Miller comes from Swiss Re, where she oversaw key broker relationships in the North American region and globally for the Corporate Solutions Division.

UJA-Federation of New York, a philanthropic organization, announced three honorees to be recognized at this year’s General Insurance Annual Dinner. The event will be held on May 31 at Grand Hyatt New York in Manhattan.

This year’s honorees are Dominic Casserley, president of Willis Towers Watson; Charles Dangelo, president and CEO of Starr Indemnity and Liability; and Richard Hershman, senior advisor at FTI Consulting Inc. Hershman will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Maurice Greenberg, chairman of Starr Companies, and Peter Weinberg, partner at Perella Weinberg Partners, will serve as event chairs and present the honorees with their awards.
