John Bailey, CIC, President of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York, in a letter to Gregory V. Serio, superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department, applauded the recent improvements that have been made in NY’s electronic license renewal process. (See IJ Website June 18, 26)

The renewal period for the property/casualty agents came to a close last month, and the reforms allowed licensees the option to complete their renewals online.

“PIANY’s Industry Resource Center serves as a trouble-shooter for our members on a wide variety of matters,” Bailey wrote. “We have definitely noticed an absence of calls from members with licensing renewal concerns.”

“We congratulate the department on the amount of time and resources it obviously devoted to making this process fully functional for a wide variety of users, which is apparent from the lack of follow-up calls we have had reporting any problems,” he continued.

“To continue with improvements, the NYSID also has resolved to eliminate delays in distributing the renewed licenses, which has lessened the amount of anxiety some applicants associate with the renewal process,” said the PIANY announcement.

“These improvements, along with your excellent Web site, have been outstanding examples of the Insurance Department implementing the administration’s initiative in using cutting-edge technology to interface more effectively with your licensees,” Bailey concluded.
