Alleghany Corporation of New York City announced it has named Weston Hicks as executive vice president effective Oct. 7.
Hicks has extensive experience as a senior executive, capital manager and research analyst in the insurance and investment industries. He joins Alleghany from The Chubb Corporation, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Hicks will report directly to John Burns Jr., Alleghany’s president and CEO. He will be charged with overall supervision of Alleghany’s investment portfolio and Alleghany’s holdings in the insurance industry.
Alleghany Corporation is engaged through its subsidiaries, Alleghany Insurance Holdings (consisting principally of Capitol Transamerica Corporation which was acquired in January 2002), World Minerals Inc. and Heads and Threads International LLC, in the businesses of property and casualty insurance, industrial minerals and industrial fasteners.
