The St. Paul Companies announced the creation of a new regional territory to address the business growth and distribution opportunities in the New England corridor, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and upstate New York.
The company also announced that it has appointed Michael G. Connor as regional executive of the newly created New England region. Alan Crater, currently the St. Paul regional executive–Northeast Region, based in New York City, will assume responsibility for downstate New York and northern New Jersey.

His background includes extensive experience in commercial lines management, underwriting, marketing and business development. He joins The St. Paul from the Kemper Insurance Companies, where he served in branch management capacities, most recently as Southeastern Regional Vice President based in Atlanta.
“We see many growth opportunities for our commercial insurance business within the New England and Northeast regions,” stated Dennis Crosby, president–Commercial Middle Market. “We want to capitalize on these opportunities and strengthen our relationships with our agents and brokers in these areas. By appointing an additional regional executive to the area and providing more focus on our distribution force, we plan to grow our book of commercial business within these regions.”
