With more than 400 industry professionals on hand, the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc.’s Long Island Regional Awareness Program brought out veterans and newcomers alike for education sessions, marketing venues and more.
Attendees heard a keynote address by Lancer Insurance Group President and CEO David P. Delaney Jr., who predicted mass torts, mold issues and asbestos would continue to make agents’ and brokers’ jobs harder in coming years.
The morning session, “The Fight Against Fraud,” taught by Frank Sztuk, armed attendees with a greater knowledge of prevalent schemes used to perpetuate fraud and preventative measures to combat phony claims.

The 2004 Louis A. Morelli Memorial Award was presented to Daniel F. Maher Jr., Esq., executive director of the Excess Line Association of New York. The Morelli Memorial award is given in memory of PIANY honorary director Lou Morelli annually to an individual who shows exemplary contributions to insurance professionalism and has a reputation for working toward the betterment of the agency system and for the growth of the association.
Lancer’s David Delaney was honored with the 2004 Long Island RAP Executive of the Year Award. The award recognizes a hard-working individual from the insurance industry who has demonstrated a commitment to professionalism and service.
