PIANY’s MetroRAP 2005 Education Designed for Downstate Insurance Professionals

November 24, 2004

The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. will feature two continuing education courses during its annual Metropolitan Regional Awareness Program, Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at the New York Marriott Brooklyn, Brooklyn, N.Y. This is PIANY’s first RAP scheduled for the year.

“Independent insurance producers in the Metropolitan New York area will find that MetroRAP is designed to accommodate their businesses and clients,” said MetroRAP Committee Chair Harvey Leff. “The instructors of the education seminars have geared the programs specially to deal with the issues that most affect professionals in New York City and the surrounding areas.”

The morning’s presentation is “Leadership in the Insurance Industry.” Instructor Patricia Murray will take an in-depth look at what it takes to be a real leader in an organization. Through lecture, role-play and a case study investigation, her class will teach managers and supervisors in insurance agencies and companies the art and science of leadership.

Participants can join David Paige Esq., in the afternoon for “Current Trends, Changes in the Insurance Law and Internet Exposures.” Paige will illustrate the legal and regulatory errors and omissions picture and forecasts changes to come. Searching for effective E&O prevention strategies, he will use study cases, review actual court decisions and analyze regulatory developments. Participants will delve into the specifics of Internet liability and walk away with further suggestions for broker compliance.

Both classes have been approved for 3 New York and 3 New Jersey continuing education credits.

MetroRAP also features a sold-out trade show, award presentations and a keynote address by Michael Lee, president and chief executive officer, Tower Group Cos.
