Ralph “Buddy” Iannaco, president of Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers, will be honored as the Insurance Professional of the Year 2005 by the Insurance Library Association of Boston.
The award will be presented on Oct. 19 during a luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. Speakers will include Massachusetts Senate President Robert E. Travaglini and State Representative Ronald Mariano, who co-chairs the Financial Services Committee.
The Insurance Library Association of Boston, founded in 1887, is the oldest repository of insurance information in the country. In 2002, the library established the Insurance Professional of the Year Award to recognize outstanding achievements in and contributions to the industry and the community at large.
Iannaco began his long career in the public sector in 1964 upon his appointment as the secretary of the Board of Appeals in the Division of Insurance by then Governor Endicott Peabody. Over 30 years he served in several positions at the division, including first deputy commissioner. In 1998, he was selected to be president of CAR, the auto insurance high risk reinsurance and statistical gathering organization.
