The University of Connecticut’s basketball teams have a new name for their home stadium: The XL Center.
XL Insurance announced this morning it has signed a 6-year agreement for the naming rights to the 16,500-seat Hartford Civic Center for an undisclosed amount.
“Hartford is considered the city where the US insurance industry began and remains a very influential business center for our industry today,” said John Glancy, chief underwriting officer of XL Insurance’s Global Professional unit, based in Hartford.
Northland AEG manages the newly renamed venue, which is home to both the UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball teams, as well as the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolfpack.
