Maryland fire marshals say they’re still investigating the burning of a vacant house in Washington County worth $750,000.
Fire marshal Ed Ernst told The (Hagerstown) Herald-Mail Monday morning that they still haven’t learned who owns the home.
Firefighters let the fire burn itself out Sunday night. They said the heat and smoke were too widespread and the damage already too great.
The home, which has ten rooms and was for sale, started burning around 7:30 p.m. No one was injured at the home site near the former Fort Ritchie Army base in northwest Washington County.
About 45 firefighters were on scene for at least three hours and the foundation was still burning at 11 p.m.
