July 6, 2009

A member of New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine’s Cabinet is stepping down.

After three years as commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance, Steven Goldman will leave July 15 to resume his private law career. He will work for the firm of Kramer, Levin, Naftalis & Frankel, which has offices in New York and Paris.

Before taking the state post, Goldman had spent 22 years at the firm of Sills Cummis Epstein & Gross, where his work involved corporate issues including banking, mergers and finance.

Robert Corrales, a Corzine spokesman, said Goldman sent his letter of resignation on June 19.
