Richard Smith has been named president of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA).
Smith currently serves as deputy commissioner of the state of Vermont’s Public Service Department. The long-time government administrator has also served as deputy commissioner of Economic Development and policy analyst in the Office of the Governor
He assumes the post on October 15.
The VCIA is the largest captive insurance association in the world and represents nearly 500 members.
