A West Bath, Maine woman who crashed her vehicle into a telephone pole has been cited under the state’s new distracted driver law.
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department says Kandi Frame was talking on a cell phone when she crashed Wednesday morning on Hill Road. Frame and her 8-year-old son who was in the car weren’t hurt, but traffic had to be rerouted.
Chief Deputy Todd Bayha told The Times Record of Brunswick that he issued Frame citations for imprudent speed and failure to maintain control of a vehicle, which is sometimes called the distracted driver law.
The law, which went into effect Sept. 12, makes it illegal for drivers to lose control while distracted, whether by using a cell phone, texting, eating or some other activity.
