Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver whose car struck and killed a Hartford Hospital employee.
Police and hospital officials said the victim was crossing a street in front of a medical arts building on Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police did not release the name of the victim, who was reportedly on the first day of his job at the hospital.
Witnesses told police that the vehicle, a gray Acura, kept going after hitting the man. The car was found a short time later crashed into a fence on Maxim Road, but the driver had fled.
In a statement, the hospital said its staff was grieving over the loss of a colleague and offering support to the victim’s family.
