Three men were seriously burned Friday morning when an explosion rocked a northern New Jersey business.
The blast at the Clifton conveyor business occurred just after 10 a.m. when a leaky tank on a truck in the business’ loading dock apparently sent gas into the building, Deputy Police Chief Norman Tahan said, and a nearby furnace ignited the vapor.
One man sustained third-degree burns to his arms and face, while another had second to third-degree burns from head to his ankles and the third had second-degree burns to his arms and face. But all three were expected to survive.
All three were taken to St. Barnabas Medical Center, but their identities and further details on their condition were not disclosed.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
