A man who Philadelphia prosecutors call the mastermind of a more than $1 million insurance fraud scheme will serve four to 10 years in prison.
A judge on Thursday also ordered 44-year-old Wallace Morris to pay $440,000 in restitution to 17 insurance companies.
Authorities say dozens of staged car accidents were set up to include two vehicles, with six claimants per crash, to maximize claim and settlement potentials.
Morris had pleaded guilty in February to 44 counts of insurance fraud, 43 counts of theft and related charges.
The district attorney’s office says more than 116 people have been arrested in the scheme so far.
