The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded $19 million to help rebuild Louisa County High School, which was damaged during the Aug. 23 earthquake.
A news release from Gov. Bob McDonnell’s office last Thursday said rebuilding the school will cost an estimated $43 million. A combination of insurance and state and local funding will cover the balance.
FEMA awarded $3.2 million to Louisa County to help rebuild Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Both buildings sustained significant damage in the 5.8-magnitude quake.
The federal agency also has provided $13 million in disaster aid to homeowners in the counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Goochland, King George, Louisa, Orange, Spotsylvania and the city of Fredericksburg.
