N.Y.-headquartered law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan said it is continuing to expand the firm’s insurance practice with the addition of Ellen Dunn to the firm’s litigation group in New York.
She served as co-head of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s U.S. litigation practice and brings 20 years of experience representing life and property/casualty insurers in litigation, regulatory investigations, administrative hearings and compliance matters.
Dunn joins Sutherland just weeks after a group from Dewey & LeBoeuf joined Sutherland’s insurance practice in New York. They include Partners James Dwyer, Jeffrey Mace, John Pruitt, Linda Sciuto, Cynthia Shoss and P. Bruce Wright; Counsel Linda Berry and Saren Goldner; and Associates Justin Kitchens, Daren Moreira and Joshua Borden.
So far, about 200 of Dewey’s roughly 300 partners have left the troubled firm since the beginning of the year.
Dunn has extensive experience with internal investigations, policyholder and shareholder class actions, insurance insolvencies, complex contractual disputes and commercial arbitrations. She regularly represents insurers before state insurance departments and in investigations and inquiries by state attorneys general, particularly in connection with market conduct and other compliance issues.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Ellen to Sutherland as we continue to expand our industry-leading insurance practice with top-notch legal talent,” said Sutherland Managing Partner Mark Wasserman. “Ellen adds further depth and breadth to our practice, which is nationally recognized for bringing deep industry knowledge to insurance regulation and litigation matters.”
