
The Connecticut state Senate on Tuesday officially confirmed Katharine L. Wade as Connecticut’s new insurance commissioner.
Wade was nominated by Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy on March 20 to serve as commissioner of the Connecticut Insurance Department. Wade succeeds Thomas B. Leonardi who stepped down from the post in December to join New York investment banking advisory firm Evercore Partners.
A former Cigna Corporation executive with more than 20 years of industry experience, Wade will oversees a regulatory agency with jurisdiction over one of the largest insurance industries in the U.S.
Wade has served with Cigna beginning in 1992. Most recently, she served as the company’s vice president of public policy, government affairs and U.S. compliance, where she was responsible for leading a 130-member national team to coordinate all federal and state legislative and regulatory affairs, public policy, and compliance operations for health, group life, and disability businesses.
