$20K Worth of Tools Stolen from Rhode Island Habitat for Humanity Home

October 1, 2018

About $20,000 worth of tools has been stolen from a Habitat for Humanity home under construction in Rhode Island.

The organization’s fundraising director says locks were broken on a construction trailer at the site in Exeter between last Monday evening and Tuesday morning, and everything inside was taken.

Cliff Tyler says the items include a $3,000 construction generator, two dozen nail guns, and circular saws worth $300.

Tyler says they have the serial numbers for some items, and most of the tools had the organization’s initials painted or engraved on.

Still, he says the situation is “disheartening,” especially for the two families who expected to move into the home by Valentine’s Day.

The organization has set up a donation page to help replace the tools.

State police are investigating.
