An award-winning Vermont cheesemaker that sold its cheeses around the country is shutting down after a listeria outbreak and recall.
Consider Bardwell in West Pawlett says that its current funds do not allow it to continue manufacturing and sell cheese. Owner Angela Miller said they do not have cash flow and resources to recover from the recall.
The FDA announced on Sept. 30 a voluntary recall of the farm’s Dorset Cheese from Whole Foods over concerns about potential listeria contamination.
The FDA notice said the cheese was sold at Whole Foods stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.
Consider Bardwell expanded the recall to all of its products.
