The New Hampshire Insurance Department announced the promotion of Keith Nyhan as the deputy commissioner. Nyhan has served as director of the Consumer Services unit since 2007.
Nyhan brings 28 years of experience in the financial services and insurance sectors to his new position. Nyhan’s career began in the U.S. Army, where he reached the rank of Sergeant, serving as an electronic warfare specialist and earning a certification as an Arabic linguist from the Defense Language Institute. He then joined John Hancock Financial Services in 1997 as a customer service representative and later a compliance director.

He began his tenure at the NHID as the examiner in the Life and Health Market Conduct unit, where he worked in compliance management, consumer advocacy, and regulatory oversight. In his role as director of the Consumer Services unit, he has overseen the recovery of $33 million for consumers.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Russian from the College of the Holy Cross and an Associate of Arts in Accounting from McIntosh College,
