A team from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is headed to Bangor International Airport in Maine to investigate the Sunday, Jan. 25 crash of a Bombardier CL 600 airplane.
Eight people were on board. No information about their fate has been released.
The aircraft apparently crashed on the runway about 7:45 pm while departing the airport. The plane then suffered a post-crash fire.
The airport was being hit with heavy snow at the time. The storm has impeded the arrival of the NTSB team. An airport official said the team may not be on scene until this evening.
Emergency crews worked through the evening. The public was asked to avoid the area.
The airport closed after the accident and will remain closed until at least Wednesday at noon, according to airport officials.
