September 30, 2002

Leading reinsurance broker Benfield Blanch, the U.S. division of the U.K.’s Benfield Group, announced its participation in The Target Markets Program organized by the Program Administrators Association.

A three-day session is scheduled to be held at the National Program Administrators Summit October 21-24 in Tempe, Arizona. The announcement indicated that the opportunities offered at the conference are particularly important to members “as carriers and coverage shrink in the hard market.”

The bulletin stressed the importance of the Conference to Program Administrators, noting that it will bring “3 carriers and 200+ program administrators and vendors, all specializing in program business.”

“The Association’s current carrier partners include, AIG Programs, Clarendon, XL Programs, Gulf Insurance Group, Markel, Royal and SunAlliance Programs, Meadowbrook Insurance Group, KEMPES, The St. Paul Companies and Old United Casualty and United National Group,” said the announcement.

Benfield Blanch is the exclusive reinsurance intermediary to the association, and in that capacity stated that it “can assist both large and small program administrators in locating carriers and reinsurance.”

Thomas Kearney, Executive VP stated that “What MGAs need to do now is find those carriers in all parts of the world who still want to write program business and establish a relationship with them.” He pointed out that the company’s ” relationship with our U.K. parent and their contacts gives us access to worldwide carriers and reinsurers.”
