Marsh announced from its London office that it has appointed Mervyn Owen as jewelers’ block specialist in the London office of its Specie Practice, which “delivers insurance services and advice concerning valuable property, precious metals and stones in transit or at rest.”
He will be responsible for generating new business opportunities for Marsh in jewelers’ block at an UK and international level.
Owen joins Marsh from HSBC Insurance Brokers. He specializes in European and Far Eastern jewelers’ block business, and has extensive experience in placing jewelers’ block insurance and providing risk advice, having previously worked for a number of insurance companies.
Owen said that he is “delighted to be joining Marsh to assume the responsibility for growing the jewelers’ block book of business. Philip Turner, Specie Practice leader, indicated that Owen is joining Marsh “at a very exciting time.” He also recognized Owen’s 25 years experience in the placement of jewelers’ block insurance, indicating that it is a “highly specialized area of business which requires in-depth understanding and knowledge to deliver the very best services to clients.”
