Aon Risk Services has appointed Mark Cracknell as CEO of Aon Marine in the UK. He leads a team of 80 based in London and other UK regions. Cracknell will be responsible for servicing marine clients both directly and through the global Aon Specialty network. In addition, he will continue to boost revenues and represent the UK on Aon’s global marine executive headed by Steve Beslity, CEO of Aon Global Marine.
Cracknell has 20 years’ experience in marine underwriting and insurance broking, with knowledge of the global marine markets. He was previously team leader of marine in London for Benfield Corporate Risk, which integrated into Aon in December 2008.
Beslity pointed to his “talent as an underwriter and broker, coupled with a vision of delivering the best client service and leadership” as important strengths. He also noted that, Cracknell’s “understanding of protection & indemnity insurance is crucial as the cover now accounts for 50 percent of a ship owner’s spend in comparison to roughly 20 percent two decades ago.”
