The Bermuda-based Everest Re Group announced the appointment of Roger M. Singer to its Board of Directors, effective February 24, 2010. He formerly served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for One Beacon Insurance Group LLC from 1989 until retiring in 2005. Singer had also served on One Beacon’s Board of Directors and retained this position through 2006.
Prior to joining One Beacon he had been the Commissioner of Insurance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1987 to 1989 and formerly the First Deputy to the Commissioner from 1985 to 1987.
He has also held various positions in branches of the federal government including the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, the Consumer Protection Division and the Federal Trade Commission. Mr. Singer graduated from Boston College Law School in 1973 and is married with two children.
Chairman and CEO Joseph V. Taranto welcomed Singer to the Everest Board of Directors, citing his “knowledge and experience” as a benefit for the Group.
