Bowring Marsh, the Specialist International Placement Broker at Marsh, has expanded its Asian presence with the opening in Tokyo of its eighth office, which will specialize in property, earthquake and business interruption risks.
Marsh said the office will “place large and complex international programs for non-Japanese companies into the Japanese insurance market. Bowring Marsh will also work closely with Marsh retail brokers in Japan to access international insurers for Japanese clients.”
Bowring Marsh has seven other major insurance hubs around the world: Bermuda, Dublin, London, Miami, São Paulo, Singapore and Zurich.
The Tokyo office will be led by Tetsuro Nakazawa, who joins from Marsh in Japan. He will report to Geoff Lambrou, Leader of Bowring Marsh in Asia.
Nick Bacon, CEO of Bowring Marsh, commented: “No matter where our clients are located, one of Bowring Marsh’s key objectives is to provide them, through their local Marsh broker, with access to the most competitive and secure international insurance markets.
“For many decades, Tokyo has been regarded as a major regional centre for property insurance. However, it is also growing in its importance as a leading international insurance hub. We are seeing increased interest in highly-regarded Japanese insurance capacity from our corporate clients globally. The launch of Bowring Marsh’s Tokyo office will enable us to meet that demand more effectively.
“We expect to announce further expansion in Asia later this year. The opening of our Tokyo office is an important step in our regional growth plan and further enhances our global portfolio,” Bacon added.
