May 11, 2011

Cooper Gay, the UK partner of Swett & Crawford, announced that it plans to form a new International management team for its non-marine and energy operations in the UK, charged with “driving the business forward from a strategic perspective.”

The move follows the successful launch of the energy division last year, and continues the broker’s focus on energy and non-marine business. The bulletin noted that while the “established non-marine and energy divisions will continue to function independently under their existing operational structures, management has been centralized, both to enhance the service provided to clients and to drive further organic growth across the business.”

Chris Butcher, Chief Trading Officer for Cooper Gay & Co Ltd has been appointed as Managing Director of the new management team for International. In addition, Tony Pickering has been appointed Chairman of International. They will “work with Steve Jackson (Latin Region) and Malcolm Harvey (Europe and AAA), who will continue to support the growth of both non-marine and energy business, with an increased focus on driving new international opportunities,” said the bulletin.

Shaun Hooper, interim CEO of Cooper Gay commented: “As part of the UK business’ ongoing commitment to service excellence, we are continually enhancing our operational infrastructure in support of our growing global client base. Aligning these two highly-respected, specialist operations under one management team will not only strengthen internal effectiveness, but will also drive growth through a strategic, cohesive and customer-focused approach to international service delivery.”
