Argo Group International Holdings announced that Valerie Baucher has joined Argo Assurances, the Argo Group’s Paris-based underwriting platform for large specialty risks. She will lead a financial lines and casualty account with French brokers.
“Valerie’s expertise in setting up and managing key underwriting operations in her past positions is integral to expanding into the French marketplace and ultimately throughout the European market,” stated Bruno Ritchie, managing director for Argo Assurances in Paris. “She’s a recognized expert who will extend the Argo Group brand within the broker community as we build our branch office in Paris.”
Argo added that Baucher would “focus on commercial professional indemnity and E&O in the areas of intellectual activities/services and IT and media firms, as well as casualty products liability and comprehensive general liability. Accounts will be written on behalf of Argo Group’s Lloyd’s Syndicate through its coverholder, Argo Direct, Ltd.”
Baucher has more than 17 years experience in underwriting, most recently with ACE as head of professional indemnity for Europe and at AIG Europe as professional liability manager. She holds a master of civil and commercial law degree, having studied at both the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and the Institut D’Etudes Judiciaires of Paris.
