McGill to Assume New Role as Aon Group President

Aon plc announced that Steve McGill has been appointed group president of Aon, responsible for overseeing the “development and execution of the firm’s overall growth strategy with primary focus on Aon’s risk solutions businesses – Aon Risk Solutions and Aon Benfield.

The bulletin said that “effective coordination across the firm puts Aon in a stronger position to deliver value for clients and represents the next step in reaching Aon’s growth objectives.”

McGill joined Aon in 2005. He will maintain his role as chairman and CEO of Aon Risk Solutions and will continue to report to Aon’s President and CEO Greg Case. He will take up his new position immediately.

Case described McGill as an “exceptional leader for our firm,” noting that he has “been instrumental in developing our teams and building Aon Risk Solutions into the preeminent risk management and insurance brokerage firm in the world today. We are excited that he is taking on this new role and confident he will bring the same focus, passion and leadership capabilities he has demonstrated in Aon Risk Solutions to the rest of the firm.”

He added that the Aon has “unmatched content, talent and capabilities across the critical business disciplines of risk and people,” which would help the company to reach its goal of building “upon our offerings and continue to provide clients with the advice and solutions they need to achieve their business goals, while reinforcing Aon’s leadership position in the industry.”
