Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon plc, announced the appointment of Joe Smith as chief executive officer of its Chile team.
Smith has been with Aon for more than 20 years, having previously worked in London, Tokyo and Miami. He most recently served as Treaty Director at Aon Benfield Chile, a role that remains within his responsibilities as CEO of Aon Benfield Chile.
The announcement also said Smith’s appointment is one of several changes to Aon Benfield Chile’s senior leadership structure that will increase Aon Benfield’s strategic focus on its Chile operations.
In addition to Smith’s appointment, Aon Benfield also appointed the following colleagues to its Chile executive committee:
• Mariana Mulic, Aon Benfield Chile Director of Operations, Finance and Client Services and Aon Benfield Latin America Chief Financial Officer
• Martin Soto Quintus, Aon Benfield Chile Director of the Facultative Department
• Miguel Pizarro, Aon Benfield Chile Director of Specialty Lines, Product Development and Commercial Strategy Units
Mike Hughes, CEO of Aon Benfield Latin America, added: “In addition to these structural enhancements to our firm in the Chile reinsurance market, Aon Benfield Chile clients will continue to receive the full benefits of the Aon Benfield global network. This includes access to capital markets products through the capabilities of our reinsurance investment banking division, Aon Benfield Securities, and the expertise and solutions of Aon Benfield Analytics, which comprises more than 500 colleagues globally.”
