Aspen Insurance, the insurance segment of Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., has announced the appointments of Mike Toppi as global head of Surety Risk and Paul Sanders as global head of Credit & Political Risk.
These appointments are part of Aspen Insurance’s strategy to leverage its global platform and better align product capabilities and distribution, the company said in a statement.
Toppi and Sanders will report to David Cohen, president and chief underwriting officer, Aspen Insurance. Toppi will be based in New York City, while Sanders will be located in London.
Toppi was previously Aspen’s executive vice president, chief surety lines underwriter. He has 25 years of experience in the surety business and started his career at Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. He also spent five years at The Hartford Insurance Group and has held a senior role at Travelers.
Sanders joined Aspen in September 2014 as head of Credit & Political Risk. He was previously vice president and regional manager UK at Zurich where he was responsible for managing the London market portfolio of political risk and credit business. He has also held a senior political risk broker role at Marsh/Sedgwick.
