Swiss Re Corporate Solutions announced that its wholly owned Luxembourg subsidiary, Swiss Re International SE, has obtained formal authorization from the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance Hong Kong to carry on general insurance business in or from Hong Kong.
The newly licensed entity, Swiss Re International SE Hong Kong Branch (SRI HK), begins operations immediately.
The company said it offers a broad range of insurance products to large and mid-sized corporate clients in Hong Kong. In addition to standard property and casualty insurance, SRI HK offers professional and financial lines, engineering and construction, energy, marine, credit and customized risk-transfer solutions.
Dylan Bryant, who joined Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in February 2016, is appointed as branch manager for SRI HK. He has been based in Hong Kong since 2009 and is also a director of the Chartered Insurance Institute Hong Kong (CIIHK).
“Our office in Hong Kong signifies our strong commitment to the region. Clients will benefit from local representation of our global products and services backed by the financial strength of the Swiss Re Group,” said Fred Kleiterp, CEO Asia Pacific, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
The Hong Kong office will also continue to service clients in Taiwan and Macau. The new branch expands Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ operations across Asia-Pacific, which now comprises 10 offices across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore.
