XL Catlin’s insurance operations has appointed James Tuplin as head of Cyber and Technology, Media & Telecoms (TMT), International.
In this role, Tuplin is responsible for the underwriting of cyber insurance, as well as professional indemnity insurance for the technology and media sectors. He is based in London.
The cyber insurance market is set to reach $7.5 billion by 2020 and hence is a key area of development for the insurance market, said XL Catlin in a statement, quoting statistics from PwC.
Tuplin has nearly 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He joins XL Catlin from QBE where he spent three years as cyber & TMT portfolio manager, with responsibility for growing the cyber portfolio in Europe. He previously held the role of senior technology PI and cyber underwriter at Allianz Insurance plc, where he was instrumental in launching a technology PI solution. Prior to this, Tuplin spent 10 years at Zurich Global Corporate, where he held various underwriting positions specializing in errors & omissions and PI insurance, in the UK and Canada.
