People Moves: AXA XL Canada Names 5 Underwriters; MS Amlin Appoints 2 at Reinsurance Business

This wrap-up of international People Moves details recent appointments at AXA XL and MS Amlin.

AXA XL announced that it has added five Toronto-based underwriters to strengthen its casualty, professional liability and commercial property expertise.

Gladys Adams, Joseph Renton and Gary Tobin have joined the casualty team as senior underwriters. They report to Liana Martire, head of Casualty, Canada.

Charles Benson, senior underwriter, reports to Chris Lawrence, head of Professional Liability, Canada.

John Hua, senior underwriter, Commercial Property, reports to Jennifer Arezes, head of Property, Construction & Energy, Canada.

MS Amlin AG, the global reinsurer, announced the appointments of Louis De Segonzac as chief underwriting officer (CUO), and Maria Amelio as lead casualty underwriter, U.S., at MS Amlin AG’s Americas business in New Jersey and Miami.

De Segonzac took on his role on May 1, and Amelio joined the company on May 10. Amelio will report to De Segonzac while De Segonzac will report to Charles Goldie, CUO of MS Amlin AG.

A reinsurance industry veteran with more than 30 years of market experience, De Segonzac joined MS Amlin in October 2014 with responsibility for establishing its Miami office and managing the business’ Latin American treaty portfolio. His appointment as CUO marks a new combined role for the business in the Americas operating out of offices in New Jersey and Miami.

A veteran of the U.S. re/insurance business, Amelio joins MS Amlin AG from WKFC Underwriting Managers / CorRisk Solutions, where she was the EVP-CUO specialty casualty for the past four years. In her role as lead casualty underwriter, she will be responsible for building on MS Amlin AG’s portfolio of casualty business.
