July 11, 2025

This edition of International People Moves details appointments at the broker Consilium and Everest’s International Insurance Operation.

A summary of these new hires (and one exit) follows here.

Consilium Taps Carpenter’s Coleman for C-Suite, as Co-CEO Baird Is Removed

Consilium, the London-based speciality re/insurance broking business of the Aventum Group, has announced the appointment of Peter Coleman to its senior leadership team.

The appointment comes on the heels of the removal this week of James Baird from his role as co-CEO and immediate exit from the company.

For legal reasons, Consilium said it cannot provide further comment on Baird’s exit at this stage.

Coleman will join Consilium following the completion of his notice period at Guy Carpenter Facultative, where he has spent the past six years, most recently as managing director & global head of Placement.

A company representative said Coleman’s job title has not yet been confirmed but he will join the Consilium C-suite.

Prior to Guy Carpenter, Coleman held senior positions at Agora Syndicate and Ironshore, building a broad and respected track record across the London Market.

Paul Richards, Consilium’s co-CEO, is remaining with the business. Richards will continue to work closely with Aventum CEO David Bearman and the Group Executive Management team to lead Consilium through its next chapter of international growth, the company said in a statement.

About Consilium:

Everest Promotes Shaw as Chief Commercial Officer of Int’l Insurance Division

Everest announced the appointment of Mark Shaw as chief commercial officer for its International Insurance Operation, effective immediately.

Mark Shaw

Shaw will report to Adam Clifford and Jason Keen, co-leads of Everest Insurance International, and will continue to serve on the global broking team under the leadership of Anthony Izzo, senior vice president, chief global broking officer, and head of Global Facultative and Hybrid Solutions, supporting Everest’s global distribution strategy.

In his new role, Shaw will lead the division’s international distribution strategy and client engagement model, focused on aligning capabilities, strengthening broker and client relationships, and supporting targeted growth in key markets.

Shaw joined Everest in 2022 and has held senior roles including UK commercial director and global account lead where he was instrumental in strengthening Everest’s position in the London market. Prior to joining Everest, he held senior roles at leading global carriers, bringing more than two decades of experience across underwriting, distribution, and commercial strategy.

Shaw will also oversee the expansion of Everest’s distribution leadership team, including recent growth across the UK and European retail business, client practice, and Everest Global Markets division.

“Mark is an exceptional commercial leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering strong outcomes for clients and brokers,” said Clifford. “His experience and insight across the UK and international markets will be key to elevating our market engagement and further expanding our global distribution platform.”
